Crossfit is a health and fitness phenomenon from the USA – bringing functional fitness to a whole new community of athletes of every age, ability and confidence level. The training method is defined as being “constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity” and provides incredible fitness gains – but what exactly does that mean, and what will you be doing?
Getting back to basics
Well, at our CrossFit Box you won’t find the rows of mirrors, weightlifting machines, cross trainers and vibration plates that you’d typically find at a commercial gym. We’re all about functional movement – squats, lunges, lifts, jumps, pulls and runs – so you’ll find barbell weights, rowing machines, kettlebells, weighted balls, pull up bars – and a hugely welcoming, fun community coached by expert and professional CrossFit trainers. We train in the box, and sometimes out on the street – challenging you in new ways, having plenty of fun, and ensuring you are always learning through the expertise of our encouraging coaches.

Our box welcomes athletes of all ages, all fitness abilities and all levels of fitness experience. Able to run 10 miles without pausing for breath? Come on down. Struggling to stand up from the sofa unaided? We can’t wait to meet you. CrossFit is designed to be scaled and adapted for every need, so that our athletes can all train together at the intensity that is right for them. We also keep our member numbers purposely lower than commercial gyms so that you can get to know everyone by name – and so that our coaches all know you, your abilities and your development areas. Our classes are kept at manageable sizes to ensure top quality coaching and we have special sessions for kids too. A lot of our families love to train together and share their newfound passion for CrossFit!
At every class you will work on something different – making you stronger, fitter, faster and more confident in all areas of your life, and preparing you for the so-called ‘WOD’ – the Workout of the Day, which challenges you to the max, tests your new skills and pushes forwards your progress and achievements faster than ever!
Fuelling the furnace
We will also work on your nutrition strategy and provide you with the knowledge and tools that you need to make the right food choices and see your gains maximised at double speed. Our coaches regularly put on talks and workshops for our community, covering topics that matter to them, including nutrition, training, rest and recovery, competition and more.

“Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.”
